Terms of Sale
Welcome
Thank you for choosing B.E Joinery Manufacturing.
We're a small family-run manufacturer based in Derbyshire, producing quality timber products for homeowners, builders and trade customers across the UK.
These Terms of Sale aren't designed to catch anyone out or hide behind complicated legal wording. They're simply here to explain how we work, what you can expect from us, and what we ask from our customers so we're all on the same page from the start.
By placing an order with us, you agree to the terms below.
Products
The majority of our products are manufactured to order in our Derbyshire workshop.
As we work with solid timber, every product is unique. Natural variations in grain, knots, colour and texture should be expected and are part of the character of real wood, not defects.
Although every effort is made to manufacture products accurately, minor dimensional tolerances may occur as part of the manufacturing process.
Product images are intended as a guide and may not exactly represent the finished product you receive.
Fresh Sawn Timber
Some of our products are supplied in fresh sawn or green oak.
As timber naturally dries, it is completely normal for it to develop surface checks, splits, cracks, twisting or movement. These are natural characteristics of the material and should be expected as part of the drying process. They do not affect the structural integrity of the timber and are not considered manufacturing defects.
Every piece of timber behaves differently, which is one of the unique characteristics of working with natural solid wood.
Pricing
All prices displayed on our website are inclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated.
Delivery charges are calculated separately during checkout based on your order and delivery location.
Whilst every effort is made to ensure pricing is accurate, we reserve the right to correct genuine pricing errors before accepting an order.
Placing an Order
Orders placed through our website are subject to acceptance.
If we require additional information before manufacturing your order, we'll contact you directly.
For bespoke or made-to-order items, we may provide drawings or specifications for approval before manufacture begins where appropriate.
We also reserve the right to cancel and fully refund any order before dispatch where necessary. This may include (but is not limited to):
-
Stock availability issues
-
Material shortages
-
Delivery location restrictions
-
Courier limitations
-
Pricing errors
-
Technical website errors
-
Any other circumstance that prevents us from fulfilling the order to our normal standard
Should this ever happen, we'll contact you as soon as possible and issue a full refund.
Payment
Payments are processed securely through our chosen payment providers.
We do not store your payment card details.
In the unlikely event of a payment issue, refund delay or transaction problem, you may be required to contact the payment provider directly, as they manage the payment process on our behalf. However, we'll always do everything we reasonably can to help resolve the issue and assist you throughout the process.
Manufacturing & Lead Times
Estimated lead times are shown on each product page and should be treated as a guide.
As the majority of our products are manufactured to order, lead times can occasionally vary depending on workshop demand, material availability and the complexity of your order.
If we expect your order to take longer than our usual lead time, we'll contact you as soon as possible with an updated estimate.
Our priority is always producing a quality product rather than rushing work to meet a date.
Delivery
Full details of our delivery services, lead times and couriers can be found on our Delivery Information page.
Cancellations
Standard stock items may be cancelled before they have been dispatched.
Made-to-order and bespoke products cannot normally be cancelled once manufacturing has started, as materials will already have been prepared specifically for your order.
If you need to amend or cancel an order, please contact us as soon as possible and we'll always do our best to help.
Returns
If you've received an incorrect or faulty product, please contact us immediately and we'll work with you to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
As many of our products are manufactured specifically for each customer, made-to-order and bespoke items cannot normally be returned simply because you've changed your mind.
Nothing within these terms affects your statutory rights.
Working With Timber
Timber is a natural material and behaves differently to manufactured boards or plastic alternatives.
As timber naturally expands and contracts with changes in temperature and humidity, small amounts of movement, checking, colour variation and grain variation are completely normal and should be expected throughout the life of the product.
We believe these natural characteristics are part of what makes solid timber unique.
Installation
Unless otherwise stated, products should be installed by a competent person using appropriate fixings and installation methods.
Where installation guides are provided, they are intended as general guidance only and should not be considered a substitute for suitable experience or professional judgement. We cannot accept responsibility for damage, product failure or injury resulting from incorrect installation or failure to follow good installation practices.
If you're unsure about any aspect of fitting, please contact us before installation or seek the services of a suitably qualified professional.
Warranty
We take great pride in the quality of our workmanship.
If you believe your product has a manufacturing fault, please contact us as soon as possible and we'll investigate the issue fairly.
Our warranty does not cover:
-
Incorrect installation
-
Poor maintenance
-
Normal weathering
-
Natural timber movement
-
Surface checking and splitting in fresh sawn timber
-
Accidental damage
-
Misuse
-
Alterations after delivery
Our Promise
We're not a large corporate retailer with a call centre and scripted responses.
If something isn't right, we'd much rather have an honest conversation and find a sensible solution than hide behind complicated policies. We believe good customer service doesn't end when your order leaves our workshop, and we'll always do our best to resolve genuine issues fairly and professionally.
