Solid African Iroko | Wedged Through Mortise & Tenon | Built in Derbyshire

Our solid Iroko garden gates are traditionally manufactured to order in our Derbyshire workshop, combining the natural beauty of African Iroko with substantial hardwood construction and traditional joinery.

Each gate features a 44 mm thick solid Iroko frame with 20 mm tongue-and-groove panelling, creating an attractive, durable gate suited to garden entrances, pedestrian access and side passages.

Unlike gates manufactured using laminated timber sections, each component is individually machined from solid kiln dried Iroko in our own workshop.

The natural golden-brown tones and distinctive grain of Iroko give each gate its own character, making it an attractive alternative to traditional oak.

Traditional Joinery & Construction

Each gate is constructed using traditional wedged through mortise-and-tenon joints, a long-established joinery method used in quality timber gate construction.

The substantial 44 mm thick frame is manufactured from solid African Iroko, with 20 mm solid iroko panelling machined using our own custom-made tongue-and-groove, bead-and-butt profile cutters.

Every component is prepared, machined and assembled in our Derbyshire workshop.

Natural Iroko

African Iroko is a naturally durable hardwood known for its strength, distinctive grain and attractive colour.

Freshly machined Iroko can vary from golden-yellow through to richer brown tones. As the timber is exposed to daylight and weather, its appearance will gradually change.

Like all solid timber, some natural movement may occur as moisture conditions change.

Every gate is individual, with natural variations in colour and grain.

Finishing & Maintenance

Our Iroko gates are supplied in bare, unfinished timber, allowing you to select your preferred exterior wood treatment.

Although Iroko is naturally durable, an appropriate exterior protective finish is recommended to help preserve its appearance.

Every gate is supplied with a protection and maintenance guide.
