FAS American White Oak | Wedged Through Mortise & Tenon | Built in Derbyshire

Our solid oak garden gates are traditionally manufactured in our Derbyshire workshop using carefully selected FAS-graded American White Oak.

Built using traditional wedged through mortise-and-tenon joinery, each gate combines a substantial solid oak frame with beautifully machined tongue-and-groove panelling to create a timeless design suited to both traditional and contemporary properties.

Unlike mass-produced gates constructed from laminated timber sections, our gates are manufactured using individual solid oak sections, carefully selected, machined and jointed in our own workshop.

Every gate is made to order, with attention given to the timber selection, joinery and finishing details throughout.

Traditional Joinery & Construction

Each gate is manufactured using traditional wedged through mortise-and-tenon joints, a long-established method of joining solid timber frames.

The frame is manufactured from 44 mm thick solid American White Oak, providing a substantial yet refined appearance.

The centre panelling is manufactured from 20 mm thick solid oak using our own custom-made tongue-and-groove, bead-and-butt profile cutters.

This creates a traditional panelled finish with clean, consistent detailing.

Natural Solid Oak

Each gate is manufactured using genuine solid American White Oak.

As a natural material, oak will vary in colour, grain pattern and character from one gate to another. Natural timber movement can also occur as the wood responds to changes in moisture and weather conditions.

These characteristics are part of working with solid hardwood and make each gate individual.

Finishing & Maintenance

Our oak gates are supplied in bare, unfinished timber, allowing you to select a suitable exterior finish.

We recommend applying an appropriate exterior wood protection system before installation and maintaining it according to the finish manufacturer's recommendations.

Each gate is supplied with protection and maintenance guidance to help you look after your oak.
